Bambarakanda
waterfall is the tallest waterfall of Sri Lanka and it’s situated in Haldummulla
– off Colombo Badulla road. In its height it’s about 790 Ft. (240 Meters). Bambarakanda waterfall ranks as the 299th highest waterfall
in the world. The water down from a high rock on to
the others and adds beauty to this fall. Water comes from a tributary from
Horton Plains. From there it goes to Samanala Wewa meaning valley of
butterflies. Finally fails to Walawe River. Travelling to this place is not
easy as to other falls of Sri Lanka.
This fall us
far away from the main road turning point is Kalupahana Junction (160 K.M from
Colombo) and is the closest main road to fall. The distance between Kalupahana
and the waterfall is about 5 K.M. This road is a narrow road a car, van or
light vehicle can take you closer to the waterfall.
